Purchasing New DJ Equipment For Your Home

By Jackie Wong

Ok, you want to be a DJ - you Love music and all you can think of is being able to play it, and make it. That is all good, if you have the feeling for it, there is nothing anyone can do. You will, however, need to get the low down on some of the DJ equipment you will need if you are going to be a good DJ.

The first thing you need to know, before you go out to buy a ton of equipment, is that you will stand a better chance of making a career of it if you have some sort of tertiary education behind you. Now, that said, it has to be said that it is no necessary, however, a lot of companies do look for the guys with some sort of degree.

Also, if you do decide to go to college you will be making a good choice, as you will have the possibility of landing a gig at the on campus radio stations. If you know anything about DJ's you will know that most of the good ones started out as campus DJ's. Becoming a Radio DJ is the dream of any new DJ, so doing everything you can to get there is a must.

One of the most important parts of any DJ's arsenal is the audio mixer. If you do not have an audio mixer you are not a real DJ. Sound begins and ends with the Audio mixer. You will also need to know how to work the mixer, which is something you will learn at college. If you are not going to college, you will have to read the entire manual from start to finish.

The other thing that is really important, and that forms part of your kit, is a good CD player. If you do not have a CD player, you will not be able to play music. Look for a professional CD play that offers a scratch feature.

The next things you will need are big speakers. Now, you obviously cannot get any sound out of the CD player if you do not have speakers. You will need to know a bit about ohm, watts and voltages in order to put your whole kit together.
