Choosing The Right Stopwatch

By Oliver Richard

Sporting events require a stopwatch and there is no arguing that point. In fact, sports can not take place without one and that makes it even more important to choose the right stopwatch. Many don't realize that there is more than one type of stopwatch, but there are actually several types. Before choosing one, you need to know what functions there are available so you have the ones you need for your events.

Swimming is a one of a kind event, and the times of the competitors need to be timed accurately. Because of this you'll not only need a watch that can keep track of their laps, you also need one that is waterproof. Yes, you do your best to hold on to the stopwatch but there's always the minute chance that it's somehow going to fall into the pool and you'll have to dive in to get it.

A stopwatch that stops functioning because it has fallen into water is not a wise choice for swimming events. Not all waterproof watches are the same, though, and you have to ensure that it is waterproof up to a certain depth. One that is water resistant up to only a foot is not what you need. The perfect stopwatch should also reset easily and have easy access to the buttons so that you will keep up with this fast paced sport.

One thing that you need to think about is whether or not the stopwatch comes with a good manual. Or it if comes with a manual at all.

Yes, it's true that most men don't think they need to read the manual which is perfectly fine except for when they find a function on the stopwatch and they say "What is that? And how do I use it? Does it have a name?". At which point they're sneaking off to a closet to read the four page manual, two pages of which are written in Chinese. Now you know why the manual is so important, so make sure that you get one with a nice thick manual that will walk you through everything step by step.

These are just a few of the details that you need to know before you purchase a new stopwatch for any reason. Make sure that you follow these tips and you should never have any problem at any sort of sporting even. Remember, you are only as good as your sto
